TASK I

    Name: Adriel Gangestad [Danish]

    Squad: Scouting Legion [Stationary Guard]

    Gender: Male

    Height: 5’7’’

    Weight: 152 lbs

    Age: 20 years

    Stats:
      Combat: 9
      Teamwork: 3
      Strategy: 4
      Defense: 0
      Agility: 9

    Personality:

Adriel tries his best to act like a self centered douche. He comes off as cocky and very arrogant. When around girls or talking to girls, Adriel acts extremely dominant and is incredibly bossy, however around boys it's clear that he's very submissive and somewhat of a kissup, especially if said boy is "manly". Should said boy be deemed "girly", Adriel would act as if he were a girl. Since this "manly" arrogance is still a fairly new and unpolished facade, it is easily broken and will often slip, revealing Adriel's true more softer, timid nature. Despite coming off as someone who doesn't care about anyone but himself, Adriel is incredibly caring and always puts people's safety and even feelings (feelings depending on the situation) before his own, even if said person is a girl. Adriel, in a whole, is very submissive and extremely obedient, even to girls, though he will certainly put up a verbal fight with girls. Adriel is actually surprisingly brave, being that sort of person who volunteers for the thing no one else volunteers for. Because of this, Adriel is able set aside his fears when things are at stake, such as when he's fighting titans. Adriel has a need to feel better than everyone else and cannot stand losing to the point where he'd even deny it. He's smart enough to know when he won't win, but occasionally his pride will get in the way. Actually, his pride gets in the way a lot and will often cloud his thinking, despite Adriel being a naturally very clever person.

    Past story:

Adriel was born in the Shingashina District, three years prior to the birth of his sister and seven years after the birth of his brother, and is the son of a devout follower to the Wallists. Adriel's family was poor, as his father had abandoned his mother when Adriel's brother was very young. Though, if one got to know Adriel's mother, one would understand why Adriel's father left. Adriel's mother was a very straightforward, stubborn, and forceful woman and was very open about her views to the point where she pressed them onto you. She was a very religious woman, or as religious as one is considered when they are of the "Wallist" faith. Adriel's mother seemed to think tough love was the only effective method of raising one's child, and exploited that to the fullest with poor Adriel. She'd call him girly, constantly belittle him for his feminine features, long hair, and "weak" and "girly" personality that came with his introverted and timid nature. "Be a man like your brother," she'd tell him. She'd always compare Adriel to his siblings, telling him that he wasn't manly like his brother who had gone to the military to join the Recon Corps "because he was a real man", as his mother would say, and point out how he was constantly bested by his sister who seemed to be talented at everything in Adriel's eyes. Adriel's mother seemed to only be harsh to Adriel, acting substantially sweeter around his sister, Abelina, and even praising her. This, along with the persistent harshness towards him, caused Adriel to become even "worse" in his mother's eyes, more withdrawn and submissive and timid.

When Adriel wasn't working (or in his eyes, getting bested by his sister), he'd spend his time in a quiet, secluded place, where he'd throw pebbles at various things to pass the time. While he found it frustrating at first when he'd miss the targets, he still found it enjoyable and eventually found it soothing once he got good at it. He started to enjoy his version of darts so much that he'd always go to the same spot each day after his chores were done and just work on his marksmanship. What always bothered Adriel, though, was how fuzzy the things in the distance were. Sometimes he couldn't tell if he'd hit the target or not. Soon enough, Adriel realized he needed glasses and managed to convince his mom to get him some with the help of his sister. Ah, his sister. She was both his best friend and the person he hated most out of pure jealousy. She was just so...perfect. Always nice and happy and bubbly and strong and beautiful and good at everything and mom loved her. Why couldn't he have some of her perfection? It wasn't fair. At yet, Adriel enjoyed her company and talking with her, even if he was eternally upset with her for being so perfect. She'd stand up for him too when Adriel was picked on by the other kids for his femininity. Adriel didn't rely solely on her, though, and became quite adept at dodging the various things they'd throw at him and avoiding the kids in general.

And so that's how Adriel lived his life, working and avoiding, until that day.

Adriel was in his special spot like always, taking in the fresh air while congratulating himself when he hit a bird in the head for the fifth time in a row. His smile soon faded when he started to feel the earth shake and looked around until his eyes came upon the wall and a giant, skinless, titan peering over. Adriel was frozen in fear until Abelina shook him from his trance (having to explain to her brother that she knew of his spot because she had followed him on numerous occasions after he had angrily asked her how she found him). The two children ran to a military officer who was waiting for them and were escorted to the boat that would take them to the inner wall. While on the boat, Adriel's sister explained that their mother had been eaten by a titan and the soldier had been chasing after that titan. Adriel had a bit of a mental breakdown when he learned of this. Everything was just happening so fast. Adriel could barely grasp the situation of what was going on. Abelina comforted the crying boy as they made they rode to the inner wall, although they were soon forced to move to Wall Rose when the Armored Titan breached inner part of Wall Maria.

Adriel and Abelina, like the other Shingashina refugees, were put to work. During this time, Adriel vowed to make himself manlier. He was sick of being feminine and unable to do anything and picked on and weak. He cut his hair and created a new attitude for himself, one that was the complete opposite of his shy and submissive nature. A year after he arrived inside Wall Rose and nothing left, Adriel decided to apply for the military alongside Abelina, who was the one who both inspired and convinced him.

    Reason:

Adriel's reasoning is a mixture of a lot of things, but most largely influenced by his mother's constant belittling of his manliness and his lifelong desire to get some sort of praise from his mother. Adriel knows that men in the military are manly and capable and wants to be like that. He figures he has nothing to lose and sorely dislikes working like cattle in the field. Adriel's also curious about what happened to his brother whom he doesn't remember yet had been praised highly by his mother.

Adriel's spoken reason is to "fight for the sake of humanity", however. If further pressured, he'll just tell you "why not" and leave it at that.

    Extras:

    • Abelina wants to join the Stationary Guards, with her reason being solely religious (she wants to defend the holy walls from the titans who dare desecrate it).

    • Adriel has a slight stutter, which he was picked on for as well. He gets noticeably embarrassed whenever he stutters, however he tries to not draw too much attention towards it and will ignore you when asked about it.

    • Thanks to Adriel's constant devotion and practice, he has incredible marksmanship, even without his glasses.

    • Adriel is sexist. He claims men are better than women in everything and will refuse to admit otherwise even when proven wrong. He doesn't believe this, though, and knows that women are very strong, capable creatures and honestly respects them quite a lot. He simply claims this to boost his pride and "manly" image and was sparked from his mother's calling him a girl and his intense jealousy of his sister.

    • Adriel has a very large fear of the titans, however, as stated before, his stubbornness takes place in the form of bravery and would allow him to fight titans anyway, however it would cause him to be somewhat reckless, as he's literally pushing away any and all fears.

    • Adriel's "Teamwork" is so low because while he's very very obedient, he's not a team player. He's either the boss or the servant. Never the equal.

    • Adriel was able to gain some muscle while working in the fields in Wall Rose.

    • Adriel has a very thick skin thanks to his mother.

    • Adriel doesn't hate his mother at all. In fact, he loves her, and that's why he wants her praise so badly (though he's aware that he'll never get it now).

    • Yes, that is his natural hair colour.

    • This dude is pretty much Adriel's boyfriend: sugoikawaiidesu.deviantart.com…

      • Adriel does a shit job admitting that Leroux is his boyfriend but it's pretty obvious to everyone anyway

TASK II

"Sooooo we gotta go get some food, huh?" The young girl's raven black ponytail flowed gently in the small breeze and bounced in sync to the girl's happy skipping. She gave her brother her signature sweet smile like she always did during situations like these, keeping the lead yet facing her brother, like always.

"Y-y-yeah," the dual-haired boy said halfheartedly in his usual shy tone. As always Adriel's mind was somewhere else, scattered in various places. He eyed the signs of the stores that were up ahead, thinking for a moment about how he wished to hit the empty space in the "O" with a pebble. His eyes ambled over to his sister and he sighed internally, assuring himself the girl could easily best him, even with no practice.

Abelina knew better than to pry and just gave Adriel a more sympathetic smile this time, one lined with pity. Her brother didn't catch it though, his clear blue eyes underneath his lenses focused instead on the surroundings, as they always were.
